Policing in the 21st Century

Commander John Drake has been employed with the Metropolitan Davidson County Police Department for twenty-seven (27) years.  As a police officer in the 1990s and early 2000s, John Drake understood the meaning of giving back to his community.  John for years mentored young people with the “hook” of sports.  Once a part of a basketball, track or football program supervised by John, the student was exposed to life lessons for success in school and beyond.  Many of the persons John worked with over the years stay in contact with him to this day.

It was only natural that John’s leadership skills translated into increasing positions of authority in the police department.  John worked as a patrol sergeant over a detail, as a lieutenant in charge of the Hermitage Precinct’s Investigations Unit, and now is a commander of the MNPD’s Central Police Precinct.  Prior to his promotion to commander, and while working full time, John received his Bachelor’s Degree from Bethel University.
