Service vs. Hospitality

Max attended the University of Denver, graduating with honors while receiving a double major in Business Management and Economics. Max served as Student Body President and received the University’s highest honor, The Pioneer Award, given to students who have made exceptional contributions to the campus. He returns to Denver on an annual basis as a guest lecturer for the Pioneer Leadership Series.

After graduation, Max moved to New York City and began his career with The Dilenschneider Group, and later moved to Ruder Finn; both strategic consulting firms located in midtown Manhattan. In 2007, he recognized his true passion in the hospitality business and moved back to his hometown to partner with his brother Benjamin. Strategic Hospitality is responsible for dynamic destinations across Nashville, including Paradise Park, Aerial, Merchants Restaurant, The Patterson House, The Catbird Seat, Pinewood Social, The Band Box located in First Tennessee Park, Le Sel, Bastion, and soon-to-open Henrietta Red. Strategic Hospitality currently has over 400 employees across all of its properties.

Max is active in the Nashville community by sitting on the board for the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau, OZ Arts Nashville, and the Arts and Business Council. He is also a member of Rotary Nashville, the Entrepreneurs’ Organization, and Leadership Nashville for the class of 2015-2016. In addition, he serves as sponsor of the Kipp Academy basketball team, which won a championship in 2012 for the first time in the West Nashville Sports League. In 2011, Max was named as one of Forbes Magazine’s 30 under 30. In 2016, the Nashville Business Journal named Max as a 40 under 40-award winner. In the same year, Nashville Lifestyles named him as a Nashville Influencer.
