OZ ARTS NASHVILLE ANNOUNCES TWO MORE OZ SCHOOL DAYS

Contemporary Arts Institution Offers Arts Education for
School Kids on Feb. 16 and March 27 Holidays

NASHVILLE, TENN., February 2015 – OZ Arts Nashville, a non-profit, contemporary arts center in West Nashville, continues its partnership with the Metro Parks’ Cultural Arts Division to offer hands-on, multi-arts experiences for school-age children on Metro Nashville Public Schools holidays. These full-day learning experiences are called “OZ School Days” and the next two classes have been scheduled for Feb. 16 and March 27. The first date was launched last month with a popular Andy Warhol-themed series of workshops at the Arts & Activity Center at Nashville’s Centennial Park.

The themes of each “OZ School Day” will change each time they are held and will connect to the most current program of the institution’s artistic season. The instructors are Nashville-based teaching artists practicing in the disciplines of visual art, music, dance and theater.

“Our plan is to offer something fun and educational that is arts-focused when Metro schools are out of session, but parents still need to go to work,” said OZ Arts Nashville’s Pres. & CEO Tim Ozgener. “We partnered with our friends at Metro Parks and Recreation to start this program, and we were excited to see that our inaugural session was a hit. We’re looking forward to our next two ‘OZ School Days’ coming up on Presidents’ Day and Spring Break.”

On February 16, the Monday when Metro Schools will be closed in commemoration of Presidents’ Day, “OZ School Days” will offer the theme “Found Object” based upon OZ Arts Nashville’s February interactive art installation by Alex Lockwood. The March 27 theme will likely be centered on mathematics and art in celebration of OZ Arts Nashville’s planned “Pi Day” on March 14.

Parents can get more information and register their children for the “OZ School Days” at the OZ Arts Nashville website www.OZArtsNashville.org/education .
