Dr. Gerald Obinna Onuoha is a native of Huntsville, Alabama. He moved to Nashville after high school to attend Tennessee State University where he received his Bachelors in Physics and Astronomy. After undergrad, Gerald went on to Meharry Medical College where he received his Doctorate of Medicine. He then left Meharry to attend Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire to pursue a degree in Clinical Practice with the intend of learning to understand of operate healthcare systems. Upon finishing his Clinical Practice degree, Gerald returned to Meharry to start his residency in Internal Medicine.

During his academic matriculation, Gerald held many leadership positions. He was an SNMA regional officer, he became MR. Meharry, and later rose to the ranks of President of the Meharry Student Body. He later was elected to become the Student Observer to the Board of Trustees, and afterwards became the young alumni member on the board of Trustees. But his leadership did not stop there, he is a Member of the Prince Hall Free and Accepted Mason, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., he is the youngest member of the Nashville Faculty Breakfast Club, an organization formed to addressed the issues of the North Nashville Community including TSU, FISK, and Meharry Medical College. He has received many awards including the NASA Achievement Award, Chi Boule Community Service Award,  the Kappa Alpha Psi Scholars Award, and  the Nashville Black Chambers Rising Star awards for his hard work in the community. He is the Founder and CEO of the Project DReam Community Initiative, a student led organization with the mission to motivate & inspire disadvantaged students to pursue careers as healthcare professionals. He is also the Founder and CEO of Everybody vs. Racism, an organization whose mission is to eradicate racism by providing awareness, education, and resources to communities, organizations, and businesses in the private and public sector about social injustices, systematic racism, and equal opportunities for everybody.

He is currently an Internal Medicine Hospitalist Physician for the HCA Tristar System.
