Appropriate for all ages

Known for his quotable vernacular, Ozgener declared “Life made me an artist…at age 70,” in his first published book of artworks in 2015. The now octogenarian firmly believes it is art: music, poetry, and the act of painting that has buoyed him through multiple health challenges. His artworks reflect an intellectual curiosity, a playful humor, and his personal resolve to ‘move forward’ through artistic self-expression.

Ozgener’s previous exhibitions have explored the mysterious, patterned logic of Pi via color-number synesthesia, and experimented with three-dimensional painting, featuring vibrant still lifes and homages with sculpted paint skins.

This exhibit continues to honor Ozgener’s trademark use of bright hues, but his approach has evolved to include abstract imagery. Here, he allows for a theme or shape to emerge purely through artistic impulse to add, dilute or layer-in texture.

With passion, imagination and seemingly boundless enthusiasm, Ozgener presents another vast array of artworks depicting life as he sees it – bursting with color.

Cano would like to thank Farrar Hood Cusomato for her unbounded assistance and guidance.
