Derek Jones is the Workplace Health and Safety Vice President for Global Transportation and Retail at Amazon. Derek’s responsibilities will continue to include Workplace Health and Safety for Middle and Last Mile (AMZL, AMXL, SSD, AIR, and Sortation Centers) as well as Fresh, Amazon Go, Retail, Imaging, and Amazon Pharmacy. 

Derek started with Amazon in 2012 as a Site WHS Manager at BNA2, a Traditional Non-Sort, before leaving Customer Fulfillment to develop and launch the safety strategy for Prime Now in 2015. Before joining Amazon, Derek worked at Archer Daniels Midland as a Process Engineer in Memphis, TN. In 2009 while at ADM, he pivoted to EHS with a move to Indianapolis, Indiana. Derek, a native of Savannah, Georgia, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T) in 2007. 

Derek currently lives in Nashville with his wife of 14 years (Brittany) and two children (Brittyn-11, Cairo-9).
